A glamorous Resort preview pulls Samantha deeper into the seductive world of 90s fashion. What begins as a coveted fashion appointment quickly takes an unsettling turn.
Ps. What do you mean by still writing this ? Are you writing from your own experience ( a memoir) or are you writing this as fictional, details data mined ?
Hi Marlene! I’ve written about 60K words of Off the Record and am releasing it every Wednesday as serialized fiction. It’s unedited and yes, unfinished. When we reach the end of what’s been written, paid subscribers can join me and discussing where they want the story to go. I’ve defined this as Live Manuscript publishing. You’re not waiting for the book you’re in the room as it’s written. If you’re interested, you can read more about the project here 😍 https://alizalicht.substack.com/p/im-doing-something-im-not-supposed?r=6ya9l&utm_medium=ios
So it is non fiction based in some part on fiction ? I am just trying to understand if this is a memoir based on actual events or it is non fiction story based on some lived experiences. You write of the room - and controlling the narrative, and on visibility eyc. Can you explain what you mean by both ? I ask as these are elements I have my publisher approved memoir and soon to be published. Entirely plausible that the experience may be thé similar as this is after all the fashion industry .
Off the Record is based on true stories, industry dynamics, observations, and experiences that have been fictionalized, reimagined, and in some cases created for storytelling purposes. It’s fiction, not memoir. I’ve already traditionally published two nonfiction books rooted in my own experiences in luxury fashion, PR, marketing, and digital, so this time I wanted to do something completely different creatively. The fashion industry is such a layered world that no two experiences are ever exactly alike. I’m sure your memoir will be fantastic!
I feel like I’m experiencing everything alongside you. It’s so beautifully written, and I can’t wait to finish the whole book even though I know you haven’t finished writing it yet.
Yay! I love hearing this because that’s exactly what I hoped the live manuscript format would create, the feeling that we’re all experiencing the story unfolding together in real time instead of reading something long after it’s finished. And don’t worry… there’s a lot more already written than Jessica would probably be comfortable with me admitting 😂

@aliza licht. Congratulations on writing a live manuscript. Two questions can you explain what you mean by “ rooms “ and “ visibility” ?
Loved chapter 4!

Let’s just say there are certain scenes that people outside this world will read as fiction and you and I both know better haha.
